Young Jane Young serves up a timely story of women, politics, and the politics of surviving as a woman. With unvarnished honesty, Zevin explores a fundamental question for our times: How do you start over when a terrible, youthful mistake trails you on the internet like a scarlet A?

Aviva Grossman was a congressional intern who committed the unpardonable sin of having an affair with her boss. It is Aviva who takes the fall—slut-shamed and blamed for killing the much-loved politician’s chances of becoming president. Changing her name and moving to the middle of nowhere, Aviva tries to start over, but, thanks to the age of Google, her past catches up with her when she decides to run for public office herself. Told from the perspectives of three generations of women, Young Jane Young speaks to the eternal complexities of being a woman in a male-dominated world.
