Marissa Dahl is at a personal and professional crossroads when she receives an intriguing new job offer. Hired sight unseen, she is flown to a remote island off the coast of Delaware to work with legendary director Tony Rees on what turns out to be an especially challenging and secretive shoot. A notorious auteur, Rees is known to go to whatever lengths necessary to get exactly what he wants, and this film is no different—dramatizing an actual murder on the island where it happened, in painstaking detail.

Upon her arrival, Marissa is greeted with more questions than answers, and she soon discovers that on this set, nothing is as it’s supposed to be—or as it seems. Rumors abound, at least six scandals are brewing, and no one will tell her what happened to the editor she was hired to replace. Even worse, Rees apparently expects her to solve the murder their film is based on. When a second woman is found dead on the set, Marissa realizes the killer is still on the loose—and he might be coming for her next.

Fast-paced and filled with Little’s trademark humor, Pretty as a Picture is more than just a mystery, it’s also a piercing exploration of our current cultural conversation: our preoccupation with stories about dead girls, the explosion of the true crime genre, and the reign (and fall) of egomaniacal men.
