A forty-year veteran journalist, Nelson’s bylines have appeared in major publications throughout such as the New York Times, Boston Globe, USA Today, San Jose Mercury News, San Diego Union-Tribune, Minneapolis Star Tribune and more. One of the bedrocks of journalism - whether it is print, radio, or TV - is the interview. But interviews are not only for journalists; they are used by doctors, lawyers, social workers, really anyone and everyone who wants to get information and find out the truth. Dean Nelson’s new guide shows anyone how to interview like a professional.

Drawing from over 40 years of personal experience and case studies from both famous and infamous interviews, Nelson breaks down the notion that a great interview is the result of serendipity and intuition. Rather the art and science of interviewing can be mastered through careful planning, good journalistic habits and hard work. Nelson walks readers through each step of the journey, from whom to interview and how to structure questions, the actual interview itself and afterwards, including ensuring accuracy and maintain good relationships with sources. From large concepts like the importance of research, to helpful tips (like going to the bathroom before the interview), Talk to Me is an indispensable guide to any would-be interviewer.
