Author, Peter Nelson, and Illustrator, Rohitash Rao, visit the Gillispie School to give information (and tell a few secrets) about cryptids and other mythical creatures that appear in their series Creature Keepers.
Laura Duksta, Author of I Love You More and I'll Hug You More visits The Children's School to talk about how our biggest challenges in life can become our biggest blessing. At age eleven, Laura lost her hair to a condition called alopecia areata. Her mission is to inspire children to be themselves and embrace their uniqueness.
Chris Eliopoulos, illustrator of the I Am series, visits Bird Rock Elementary and La Jolla Country Day School, giving students interactive instruction on illustration techniques.
Santa Storytime 2016
Local author, Matt Ward, presents The Fantastic Family Whipple and War of the World Records to students. Matt discusses what it is like to be an author, highlighting that it can take many years and many revisions to complete a book!
Cindy Jenson-Elliott, local author of Antsy Ansel and Dig In, along with illustrator Carolyn Fisher (all the way from Canada), present Weeds Find a Way. Together they describe the process of developing a story through words and pictures. Kids in the audience make up their own story while Carolyn illustrates it!
